Antique Leather Top Walnut and Burr Walnut Desk Office Desk by Spriggs & Co Draw

This is a beautiful antique leather top desk by Spriggs & Co London (1882-1935).
William Johnston Spriggs was born in 1851 in Texas, USA, to William and Henrietta Spriggs. The family had returned to London by 1856 when William J’s younger brother, John Fletcher, was born. Census records for 1861, 1871 & 1881 indicate that their father was a commercial traveller and hatter in London. The two sons went onto to establish a major house furnishing business in the Tottenham Court Road. 
It has lovely burr walnut fronted drawers and comes with a working key that works on all the drawer locks. A beautiful and practical piece for any sophisticated study space.
