Our Antiques

We believe your home or commercial space should be filled with things you genuinely love. We carefully source unique and beautiful pieces from a wide range of eras and time periods.

We believe that buying antique and vintage pieces is a more sustainable and conscious way of shopping, allowing beautiful, characterful items to be enjoyed for many years without compromising on style or quality.

Please remember that our items are pre-owned antiques and vintage pieces, rather than new goods. Many will naturally show signs of age, previous use, restoration, wear and imperfections which form part of their character and history.

We always try to provide as much information as possible within our item descriptions, including photographs, measurements and details about condition. However, every antique is individual and it is the buyer’s responsibility to ask about any specific details they would like further information about before purchasing.

If you would like further information, photographs, measurements or details about an item, please contact us before purchasing and we will be happy to help wherever possible.

Viewings are always encouraged, particularly for larger, valuable or unusual pieces. Viewings can be arranged by contacting us using the telephone number on our Contact page or by submitting an enquiry through our website.

 

Measurements & Suitability

Please make sure you have carefully checked the measurements of an item before purchasing and that it is suitable for your intended space.

For larger items, this includes checking doorways, hallways, staircases, lifts and any other access points that may affect delivery.

If you are unsure whether an item will fit or whether it is suitable for your space, please contact us before purchasing and we will be happy to provide any additional measurements or information we have available.

Purchases & Payment

By proceeding with payment for an item, you confirm that you have had the opportunity to review the item description and photographs and to ask any questions you may have.

Payment for an item confirms your acceptance of these Store Policies and our Terms & Conditions.

Goat & Chair Antiques operates alongside our partner company, IG Traders Ltd. From time to time, items may be sold, invoiced or payments may be processed under the name IG Traders Ltd. Where this applies, the customer will be informed as part of the purchasing process.

We encourage all customers to make sure they are completely happy with their purchase before making payment, particularly where the item is a unique antique or vintage piece.

 

Deposits

Deposits are non-refundable.

A deposit is taken to secure an item and remove it from sale while the purchase is being arranged. Please ensure you are happy with the item and have checked its suitability before placing a deposit.

If you have any questions about an item, please ask before paying a deposit.

 

Returns

As our items are unique, pre-owned antiques and vintage pieces, we do not generally accept returns where an item has been received in the same condition in which it was sent and matches the description and photographs provided at the time of purchase.

Where a return has been agreed, the cost of returning the item is the customer’s responsibility. We do not cover return delivery costs or refund the original delivery charge.

Any agreed return must be arranged with us in advance. Items must be returned in the same condition in which they were sent, allowing for any condition issues that were already discussed and agreed at the time of the return.

We therefore encourage customers to carefully review the item description and photographs, ask any questions they may have and arrange a viewing where possible before purchasing.

Delivery

We offer delivery using trusted courier services and, for more local deliveries, our trusted delivery drivers.

We take care when preparing items for transportation and will wrap and package items appropriately for their size, shape and nature. However, many of our pieces are large, heavy, fragile or unusually shaped antiques, and we are not professional specialist packers.

Damage during transportation is very rare, but the handling of an item during transit is outside of our direct control once it has been collected by a third-party courier or delivery service.

We will always take reasonable care when preparing your item for delivery and will work with you and the delivery provider to address any issues that may arise during transportation.

 

Antique & Vintage Condition

Every item we sell has its own history and character. Signs of age, wear, previous repairs, restoration, marks, variations and imperfections should be expected with antique and vintage pieces unless specifically stated otherwise.

We make every effort to accurately describe the condition of each item and provide clear photographs. If there is anything in particular you would like to know about an item’s condition, please ask us before purchasing.
